As of yesterday, I’ve officially lived in California for FIVE YEARS! 🖐
Since then I ...
• Married my most favorite human • Worked a year and a half for a non prof org
• Moved twice • Lost all my college flub
• Bought a house while R was away
• Survived (not quite thrived) 2 deployments
• Started a business at home
• Adopted 2 dogs
• Laid 1 dog to rest • Had a baby
• Met many big business goals
• Missed even more goals than I met
• Parented newborn life & toddlerhood
• Got pregnant & lost a baby • Grown remarkably in my marriage • Now 7 1/2 months along with a healthy baby and eagerly waiting the addition to the San Diego Schroeders this summer
It’s been a lovely ride in the best & hardest ways. Are you an A-player?
Yesterday I read that the BEST workers, the A-players, look for these 5 things in a workplace
1️⃣People
They seek out organizations with a reputation for having other great people who work there. They want to be surrounded by the best.
2️⃣ Challenge
They want exciting work that fulfills them.
3️⃣ Opportunity
A-players want the opportunity to move up. They want to participate in the organization’s progress and help “make it happen”...they want to make a difference.
4️⃣ Personal Growth
Work takes up 2/3 of our waking hours; A-players want to be with organizations who help them grow into who they want to be.
5️⃣ Money
Notice this is last (but still relevant). They want to be paid well for delivering good work.
Reading this made me ask myself a few questions. Maybe you can relate. ➕Do I fall into these categories, too? What is most important to me?
➕Does my workplace offer all of this to me? ➕Am I opening the same opportunity to other ambitious people, too? (If you hire for your organization, what kind of people are you choosing?) 🍎Food for thought!
